This summer, the reading logs are back! Just like over winter break, you’ll be able to get rewarded for the books (or audiobooks) you read this summer vacation. Click HERE to download and print your log or stop by the Teen Room at the library to pick up a copy.
What is the Summer Reading Log?
It’s always nice to get rewarded for doing something you love (and we hope you love reading!). It’s also nice to get rewarded for doing something you have to do: School Summer Reading. Enter the Summer Reading Log. Just like the reading log we use during Winter Break, the only things you need to record are the titles of the books you read and the number of pages read. The teen with the most pages read by the time the contest ends, wins! All Teens Are Eligible! This means anyone from incoming 6th grader to exiting 12th grader!
What books are eligible for the Summer Reading Log?
All the things! Eligible materials include:
- Books (including: Manga/Graphic Novels, fiction, non-fiction)
- Audiobooks*
- eBooks or eAudiobooks* (click HERE to find out your digital book options on Libby!)
*To calculate the pages you’ve “read” for an audiobook, please go to Goodreads or Amazon for the listed number of pages for the physical book version.
When can I start?
The last day of school marks the first day you can start logging your books!
When is the Log due?
The Summer Reading Log is due back to Teen Librarian Katy Wuerker by Thursday, August 22, 2019. The Winner will be announced Friday, August 23, 2019.
Why should I bother?
Well, we find it exciting to find out how many pages you’ve read this summer. Often we read much more than we think! But just in case page numbers read isn’t enough, we’ll give out a PRIZE for the teen who has read the most pages this summer.
