Mrs. G’s Craft of the Week
Hello Crafting Friends!
Schools out for the summer and here are some fun projects to do! The instructions are designed especially for you by Mrs. Guvendiren our Crafter-in-Chief.
These crafts will stay on the Ipswich Public Library web site under Children’s Programs, Craft of the Week, so you can always go back to them and share them with your friends.
June 22 Watercolors
You will need:
- muffin tin and a liquid measuring cup
- baking soda
- white vinegar
- cornstarch
- food coloring
June 15 String Coasters
You will need:
- ruler
- scissors
- copy of the template provided
- string
- decoupage glue (50% glue 50% water)
- something clear and flat that glue won’t stick to like a binder cover or wax paper
June 8 – Snake Bubbles
You will need:
plastic water bottle
an old sock scissors
duct tape or a rubber band
dish detergent
a shallow pan
water
food coloring (optional)
June 1 – Surprise Pictures!
You will need:
Paper
Pencils or Markers
MAY 25 – Twirling Butterflies
You will need:
2 jumbo paper clips or craft wire
a pair of pliers
wire cutters (optional)
small rubber bands
scissors
pencils, markers, crayons
MAY 18 – Finger Puppets
You will only need!
Paper
Scissors
Crayons or Markers
May 11 – Fingerprint Art
You will need:
ink pad
paper
pens
your fingers
Don’t have that? washable markers and thick paper towel will do!
May 4 – Let’s Make Playdough
Mrs. G says that this craft is easy peasy and fun for younger children.
You will need:
- 1 cup of flour
- 1/4 cup of salt
- 1 Tbs. cream of tartar (optional)
- 1 tsp. oil
- 1/2 cup food coloring (optional)

April 27 – Let’s Make a Parachute
Mrs. G’s dog, Eddie, loves this week’s craft!
You will need:
- a paper napkin (heavier dinner napkins work best; you can also cut a square from a plastic bag) ew! plastic, but at least you’re recycling
- tape
- hole punch or scissors
- yarn (string or skinny ribbon will work too)
- a Lego or playmobile guy
Don’t worry if you don’t have one. I’ll show you how to make a parachuter at the end.

April 20 – Paper Bracelets
This week’s craft is a bit challenging, but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty fun.
All you need is…
- paper (any kind will do)
- a ruler
- scissors
- a paper clip or tape
April 6th – April 12th – Paper Worms!
All you’ll need is…
- paper
- scissors
- a ruler
- something to draw with
- a straw (or something to blow through a turkey baster works, but you have to blow, don’t use the bulb)
