These Movement programs will be held in the Collins Room at the Ipswich Public Library and are sponsored by a grant from the Ipswich Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
Participants may attend one week or all weeks of the programs offered for their age. Space is limited.
Movement Mapping
For students in grades 1 to 5. Jenny Carlson (from High Street Studio in Ipswich) will be the instructor of a Movement Mapping program, which combines a STEM activity and the art of dance. Symbols designate different dance moves and students draw and design their own choreography map! The participants will perform the dance that they drafted on paper and then the dancers will perform each other’s movement maps. Math, science, and dance all in the same program.
Movement for the Little Ones
For caregivers with children ages 2 to 5. Under Jenny Carlson’s (from High Street Studio in Ipswich) direction, this creative movement program will explore concepts of space, time, and energy, while developing self-awareness, flexibility and coordination.
