
The Ipswich Public Library is excited to host its first annual “Tales That Go Bump in the Night!” Teen Writing Contest in October 2020 as a part of the month of MVLibCon: Undead Edition events! Young Adult writers from all over the Merrimack Valley area can take part in one of two categories this year: Middle School (Zombie theme) & High School (Dystopian theme). The first place writers from each age group will receive fabulous prizes.
The staff of the Ipswich Public Library will judge and select the winners (based on adherence to the rules below), and the winners will be announced at Friday, October 30th at 5pm.
Our 1st annual Teen October Writing Contest runs October 1, 2020 through October 26, 2020.
1. Read these rules:
- Teens in Middle School and High School are eligible for this contest.
- All Middle School works must adhere to the theme of “Zombies/Undead.”
- All High School works must adhere to the theme of “Dystopian Future.”
- Works of poetry, short stories, or essays will be accepted for consideration.
- Submissions in the short story or essay categories must be a MAXIMUM of 100 words.
- Only 1 entry per person is allowed.
- School assignments will not be accepted.
- All work must be original and unpublished.
- Participants must be a resident of of the Merrimack Valley area.
- All entries must be submitted using the online form. (See Below).
- Entries will be judged by library staff. Submissions that are deemed inappropriate will be disqualified.
