Libby

Libby is Overdrive’s reading app that lets you borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks, and digital magazines for free with your Ipswich Public Library card.

How do I…?

Download the free Libby app from your device’s app store or visit libbyapp.com. When prompted to search for your library system, type in Merrimack Valley Library Consortium and then enter your Ipswich Public Library card number (no spaces) and PIN to verify your card info.

Once your library card is verified, you can begin browsing and borrowing books!

MVLC has provided an in-depth answer on borrowing from all 8 library networks across the state. You can also always ask a librarian for help.

In Libby, an MVLC card holder may borrow up to 5 items and place up to 10 holds at a time.

Items you borrow or put on hold with other library networks in Libby do not count against the number of items you can borrow or put on hold with your MVLC card. Each network has its own unique borrowing and hold limits.

When you borrow an eBook on Libby and open it for the first time, select Read with Kindle. Sign into your Amazon count and select “Get Library Book.” Please check to make sure you are sending the title to the device you want. Once you’ve sent the eBook to your Kindle, sync your Kindle (internet connection needed). The eBook you just borrowed should appear in your list of titles on the home screen.

Flipster

Flipster is a digital magazine service provided free to Ipswich residents by EBSCO. You can view full magazines online on your computer, or use the Flipster app to download and read digital magazines offline. Get started using your library card at the link below.

Hoopla

Hoopla is a free service offered by the library that allows you to borrow digital items anytime, anywhere. There is no waiting for any of the items on Hoopla. Borrow ebooks, audiobooks, movies, TV shows, music albums, comics, and digital magazines instantly!

Enjoy Hoopla on your desktop, or on the Hoopla app for mobile devices and TVs. Ipswich library card holders can borrow 5 items each month.
